Important dates in
the history of Department of Family Medicine
- 1992 - creation of the Assembly for Family Doctors in
Poland
- 1992 - creation of College of Family Physician of Poland
- 1993 - creation of Chairs and Departments of Family Medicine
in Polish Medical Universities
- 1993 - Department of Family Medicine is created within
the framework of Regional Postgraduate Education Centre
of the Medical University of Lodz, co-ordinated by Prof.
Bozydar Latkowski.

is elected Chair of the Department |

| 1994 - curriculum is compiled and
teaching (lectures and tutorials) begins for students
attending the 4th year of studies at the
Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Lodz. |

- 1996 - Department of Family Medicine prepares a session
concerning Medical Issues in Family Doctors'Practice
within the framework of the 4th International
Rehabilitation and Handicapped People's Equipment Fair in
Lodz describing osteoporosis screening results of Municipal
Health Centre (GOZ) population in Nowosolna.
- 1996 - Department of Family Medicine is one of the organisers
of Polish-German Symposium entitled Didactics in Gynaecology
and Obstetrics in Belchatow. In session entitled Postgraduate
Teaching of Gynaecology and Obstetrics the special role
of family doctors education in the fields of gynaecology
and obstetrics is underlined.
- 1996 - A paper on the present and future students'education
in Department of Family Medicine of Medical Academy in Lodz
is presented on the 1st National Conference entitled Undergraduate
Education in Family Medicine in Szczecin

Ratajczyk-Paklska, PhD meets the Senator Elzbieta
Plonka, a family doctor |

| 1998 - Prof. Ewa Ratajczyk-Pakalska
publishes a script entitled Family Medicine (general
part) for 5th and 6th year Medical
Faculty students of the Medical University of Lodz |

| 1998 - Together with other institutions
(Family Medicine Residents Society, College of Family
Physician of Poland, Regional Family Doctors Education
Centre of the Medical University of Lodz, Health Department
of the City Council of Lodz ) the Department organises
conference Perspectives for Family Medicine Development
in Lodz. |

- 1999 - Results of surveys conducted in the Department
are presented in paper entitled Undergraduate Education
in Family Medicine. Before tutorials only 4% of students
declared willingness to specialise in family medicine, the
tutorials increased interest not only in the subject of
teaching but also in this medical speciality after graduating.

grant for preparatory actions aiming at participation in
the 5th European Union Framework Programme by
the National Research Committee (KBN)

take part in a meeting of institutions intending to
prepare a research-implementation project within the
framework of the 5th European Union Framework
Programme organised in Athens |

- 1999 - The Department initiates research Project for
preventing hospitalization in case of elderly inhabitants
of Lodz within the framework of a grant awarded by Lodz
City Council
| 2000 - results of research conducted
within the framework of Project for preventing
hospitalization in case of elderly inhabitants of
Lodz are presented on a conference entitled "Elderly
people health needs and their conditioning" organised
under the auspices of Department of Family Medicine
of Medical University in Lodz and Lodz City Council
for doctors of basic healthcare and other professionals
involved in care for elderly people |

- 2001 - As a final outcome of the research Project for
preventing hospitalization in case of elderly inhabitants
of Lodz a monograph entitled Hospitalisations of elderly
inhabitants of Lodz. Frequency, cause, prevention possibilities
by P. Kardas and E. Ratajczyk-Pakalska is published
- 2001 - during the 1st Congress of Polish Family Medicine
Association in Szczecin decisions concerning the organisation
of the 2nd Congress in Lodz in 2002 are made
