At the initiative of Professor Przemysław Kardas, Head of the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical University of Lodz and the Center for Research on Adherence to Treatment, Professor Tamás Ágh was hosted by the Medical University of Lodz as a visiting professor from May 27 to 31, 2025. Professor Ágh, a world-renowned expert in pharmacoeconomics, represents the University of Pécs and the Syreon Research Institute in Budapest. His stay had a scientific and educational character and marked an important step toward strengthening international academic collaboration.
The program of the visit included teaching sessions with medical students, meetings with university authorities and the international collaboration team, as well as a visit to a Primary Health Care center.
The highlight of the visit was the open lecture entitled “Pharmacoeconomics – How to Spend Smarter on Medicines to Create Better Healthcare?”, delivered on May 29 at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Lodz. During the well-attended lecture, Professor Ágh discussed the role of pharmacoeconomics in rationalizing therapeutic and system-level decisions, and its importance in the effective management of healthcare resources.
During his stay in Lodz, Professor Ágh also participated – together with Professor Przemysław Kardas – in the Congress of the College of Family Physicians in Poland, where he addressed the ecological dimension of pharmacotherapy and the issue of adherence to treatment.
